Obama goes round two with Boehner, this time on highway bill

President Obama on Monday slammed Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and the House Republican leadership for the second time in a week.
Obama’s latest attack on Boehner is over construction projects, which the president says have been blocked by Republicans who have refused to take up a long-term highway bill approved in a bipartisan vote by the Senate.
The president said the stalled legislation is keeping millions of workers jobless, and is preventing necessary projects forward across the country, including in Boehner’s own district.
“There are bridges between Kentucky and Ohio where some of the key Republican leadership come from, where folks are having to do detours an extra hour and half drive every day on their commute because these bridges don’t work,” Obama said in a speech to the Building and Construction Trades Department Legislative Conference in Washington. “Time after time, the Republicans have gotten together and they’ve said no,” he said.
Al Armendariz, the Environmental Protection Agency official under fire for comparing enforcement of environmental laws to crucifixion, has resigned.
“Over the weekend Dr. Armendariz offered his resignation, which I accepted. I respect the difficult decision he made and his wish to avoid distracting from the important work of the agency. We are all grateful for Dr. Armendariz’s service to EPA and to our nation,” said EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson in a statement Monday.
The decision comes days after Armendariz – who oversaw oil-and-gas producing states including Texas and Louisiana – drew GOP attacks over 2010 comments that surfaced in which he compared his enforcement strategy to the way ancient Roman conquerors would use terror to keep order.
A number of GOP lawmakers, shortly after the 2010 comments surfaced last week, called for his ouster despite his apology for the remarks.

Responding to GOP criticism of “spiking the football” on the anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death, President Obama said Monday there hasn’t been “any excessive celebration” by his administration.
Speaking to reporters a day before the one-year anniversary, Obama took issue with the notion that his administration has tried to politicize the issue.
“I hardly think you’ve seen any excessive celebration taking place here,” Obama said at a press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Noda.
“I think the American people remember rightly what we as a country accomplished in bringing to justice someone who killed 3,000 of our citizens.”
An Egyptian government minister said a rare rift with Saudi Arabia would be resolved after Riyadh recalled its Cairo ambassador in response to street protests there against the arrest of an Egyptian lawyer in the Gulf kingdom.
Demonstrations against Saudi Arabia’s arrest of Egyptian lawyer Ahmed el-Gezawi on April 17 have grown in recent days, culminating in a rally of almost 1,000 people at the Saudi embassy on Friday who hurled insults at the kingdom’s rulers.
“The current crisis between Egypt and Saudi Arabia will be contained, given the solid relations between the two countries which transcend any problem,” Planning and International Cooperation Minister Faiza Abu el-Naga was quoted by the state news agency MENA as saying.
She said the spat would not affect Gulf economic aid to Egypt and that Saudi officials had denied withdrawing any investments.

Members of the Egyptian parliament responded to the uproar caused by Egyptian and Arab media reports about a new law that would allow a husband to have sex with his dead wife within six hours after her death and denied existence of any such draft.
“This is indecent and nonsense. The whole issue is unacceptable. It is even unacceptable to give any statement to media about this issue,” Islamist MP Mamdouh Ismail told Al Arabiya.
The news about passing the so-called ‘Farewell Intercourse’ law by the country’s Islamist-dominated parliament was first reported by Egyptian state-run al-Ahram newspaper and Egyptian ON TV on Tuesday. It was picked up and analyzed by Al Arabiya English a day later, following which international media picked up the story.
The People’s Assembly Secretary General, Samy Mahran, denied to Al Arabiya the existence of such draft law. “I have never heard of anything in this regard,” he said.
Egyptian MP Hisham Ahmed Hanafi told the London-based Asharq al-Awsat on Saturday that “such reports are completely false and aim mainly to deform the image of the Egyptian parliament.”
Egyptian Islamist MP Ashraf Agour of the Construction and Development Party also denied the reports and said that “the issue has never been discussed in the parliament,” according to Asharq al-Awsat.
However, MP Amin Eskandar of al-Karama Party said that “the general atmosphere in the Egyptian parliament is vulnerable to such kinds of rumors.” He did confirm the presence of a draft law for early marriage that would permit girls to get married at the age of 14 instead of 18.

With Spain In Recession, S&P Cuts Banks Like Santander, BBVA
There was more disappointing news out of the eurozone Monday, with Spanish GDP contracting for the second consecutive quarter and a round of ratings downgrades for the country’s banks.
Monday’s reading on economic growth showed Spain’s economy shrunk 0.3% in the first quarter, slightly better than the 0.4% decline anticipated but enough to mark a technical recession, or two straight quarters of negative growth. The news comes after S&P cut the country’s sovereign credit rating two notches to BBB+ Friday.
Last year I broke down a report from the Homeland Security Policy Institute which not only lent support for increasingly harsh and widespread police state measures, but also served to shift attention away from the supposed threat posed by foreign terrorist groups towards the alleged threat of domestic terrorists.
One of the prime targets for demonization by both the establishment media and law enforcement has been the so-called “sovereign citizen” movement, something which I have written about previously here at End the Lie.
Now U.S. government officials have said that al Qaeda’s core organization cannot carry out another attack like the horrific events of September 11, 2001 and the likelihood of a chemical, biological, atomic or radiological attack over the next year are minimal.
Cardillo and other anonymous U.S. officials described their assessments on a conference call with journalists during which they claimed that the Arab Spring is also helping weaken the “core” al Qaeda organization.
Despite months of negotiations by former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and extensive Security Council deliberations, hostilities in Syria continue. Although overall violence is down slightly and the council has increased U.N. observers to 300, the civilian death toll continues to rise. Syria’s dictatorship ignores Mr. Annan’s “cease fire,” and Bashar al-Assad himself shows no signs of stepping down.
President Obama seems paralyzed for two basic reasons: First, he is committed to a U.N. process almost certainly doomed to failure; and second, he fears taking on the real nemesis in Syria, namely Iran’s ayatollahs.
The decision to deploy additional military observers was a positive step but the existing observers have hardly displayed much initiative. They have, for instance, declined to monitor anti-Assad demonstrations to avoid, they said, making their mission part of the dispute. One might confuse this with satire were the consequences not so grave.

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM
Egypt must take control of the rising unrest which is sweeping through the Sinai Peninsula if it wants to preserve the peace with Israel, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said late on Monday.
“We urge Egypt to contain the lawlessness in the Sinai Peninsula — this is imperative in order to keep our two nations firmly on the path of peace,” the Israeli minister told reporters at a meeting of the Foreign Press Association in Jerusalem.
Israel has repeatedly raised the alarm over the growing wave of lawlessness in the Sinai which has spiraled since the revolution which overthrew Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak in February 2011.

In this clip, Burnett excitedly promotes the NWO plan of killing physical money through her “interview” with former Israeli Ministry of Defense consultant Jonathan Lipow who demonizes cash in a NY Times article only Edward Bernays could love titled ‘Turn in Your Bin Ladens’.
Burnett asks: “So your solution is let’s get rid of the cash and that would cut off a lot of the illicit activity out there, and certainly a lot of the funding for terrorists.”
THE United States has been narrowly saved from lethal terrorist plots in recent years — or so it has seemed. A would-be suicide bomber was intercepted on his way to the Capitol; a scheme to bomb synagogues and shoot Stinger missiles at military aircraft was developed by men in Newburgh, N.Y.; and a fanciful idea to fly explosive-laden model planes into the Pentagon and the Capitol was hatched in Massachusetts.
But all these dramas were facilitated by the F.B.I., whose undercover agents and informers posed as terrorists offering a dummy missile, fake C-4 explosives, a disarmed suicide vest and rudimentary training. Suspects naïvely played their parts until they were arrested.
When an Oregon college student, Mohamed Osman Mohamud, thought of using a car bomb to attack a festive Christmas-tree lighting ceremony in Portland, the F.B.I. provided a van loaded with six 55-gallon drums of “inert material,” harmless blasting caps, a detonator cord and a gallon of diesel fuel to make the van smell flammable. An undercover F.B.I. agent even did the driving, with Mr. Mohamud in the passenger seat. To trigger the bomb the student punched a number into a cellphone and got no boom, only a bust.
German analysts say new North Korea missiles are fakes

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – German analysts who have studied photos of six new North Korean missiles unveiled at a military parade in Pyongyang this month have concluded that they were low-quality fakes.
German missile engineers Markus Schiller and Robert Schmucker of Schmucker Technologie said their findings cast doubt on the impoverished Communist state’s claims of military strength.
The weapons were displayed at an April 15 parade before North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, two days after a failed attempt by the country to launch a long-range missile.
The German missile engineers said the missiles seemed to be a mix of liquid- and solid-fuel parts that could not work together.
Each of the six missiles, designated KN-08 by Western analysts, was slightly different and did not fit the big new eight-axle mobile launchers they were carried on, Schiller and Schmucker wrote.

U.S. officials continue to shift focus from al Qaeda to ‘home-grown extremists’

This is all part of a concerted effort to turn almost everything into a sign of potential terrorist activity while breeding a culture of delusional paranoia, citizen spying and ubiquitous surveillance.
Now U.S. government officials have said that al Qaeda’s core organization cannot carry out another attack like the horrific events of September 11, 2001 and the likelihood of a chemical, biological, atomic or radiological attack over the next year are minimal.
Interestingly, this view expressed by the deputy director of U.S. National Intelligence Robert Cardillo conflicts with the ludicrous claims made recently about al Qaeda potentially planning another 9/11 in an attempt to justify an extended American military presence in Afghanistan.
Cardillo and other anonymous U.S. officials described their assessments on a conference call with journalists during which they claimed that the Arab Spring is also helping weaken the “core” al Qaeda organization.
However, al Qaeda has been quite vocal in showing support for Western-backed uprisings in Syria and Libya, which is hardly surprising when one is aware of what al Qaeda actually is and what purpose they serve, especially in the current events in the Middle East.

Thousands of US soldiers are going into battle fueled by all sorts of prescription medications, be they amphetamines, antidepressants, sedatives or others. Largely unmonitored consumption of drugs can lead to aberrant behavior and mental disorders. Over 110,000 American service personnel took prescribed medications in 2011 to battle through everyday military routine.

In this clip, Burnett excitedly promotes the NWO plan of killing physical money through her “interview” with former Israeli Ministry of Defense consultant Jonathan Lipow who demonizes cash in a NY Times article only Edward Bernays could love titled ‘Turn in Your Bin Ladens’.
Burnett asks: “So your solution is let’s get rid of the cash and that would cut off a lot of the illicit activity out there, and certainly a lot of the funding for terrorists.”

Terrorist Plots, Hatched by the F.B.I.

THE United States has been narrowly saved from lethal terrorist plots in recent years — or so it has seemed. A would-be suicide bomber was intercepted on his way to the Capitol; a scheme to bomb synagogues and shoot Stinger missiles at military aircraft was developed by men in Newburgh, N.Y.; and a fanciful idea to fly explosive-laden model planes into the Pentagon and the Capitol was hatched in Massachusetts.

But all these dramas were facilitated by the F.B.I., whose undercover agents and informers posed as terrorists offering a dummy missile, fake C-4 explosives, a disarmed suicide vest and rudimentary training. Suspects naïvely played their parts until they were arrested.
When an Oregon college student, Mohamed Osman Mohamud, thought of using a car bomb to attack a festive Christmas-tree lighting ceremony in Portland, the F.B.I. provided a van loaded with six 55-gallon drums of “inert material,” harmless blasting caps, a detonator cord and a gallon of diesel fuel to make the van smell flammable. An undercover F.B.I. agent even did the driving, with Mr. Mohamud in the passenger seat. To trigger the bomb the student punched a number into a cellphone and got no boom, only a bust.

German analysts say new North Korea missiles are fakes
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – German analysts who have studied photos of six new North Korean missiles unveiled at a military parade in Pyongyang this month have concluded that they were low-quality fakes.
German missile engineers Markus Schiller and Robert Schmucker of Schmucker Technologie said their findings cast doubt on the impoverished Communist state’s claims of military strength.
“For now, the ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) presentation was nothing else than a nice dog and pony show,” they wrote in an April 18 analysis posted online at Arms Control Wonk http://lewis.armscontrolwonk.com/files/2012/04/KN-08_Analysis_Schiller_Schmucker.pdf.
The weapons were displayed at an April 15 parade before North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, two days after a failed attempt by the country to launch a long-range missile.
The German missile engineers said the missiles seemed to be a mix of liquid- and solid-fuel parts that could not work together.
Each of the six missiles, designated KN-08 by Western analysts, was slightly different and did not fit the big new eight-axle mobile launchers they were carried on, Schiller and Schmucker wrote.

He is a former human rights activist. During the reign of the previous President he was imprisoned and kept in solitary confinement, which he considers to be torture. Once elected Head of State, he has vowed to put an end to human rights violations in Tunisia.
Marzouki recalls how he was invited to the US to talk about the human rights situation in Tunisia with a man he believed was involved in the Guantanamo controversy. Torture and the West’s double standards on the issue is indeed one of the hottest topics in this episode of the show.
