Researcher Releases Smart Meter Hacking Tool

By Jaikumar Vijayan, Computerworld

Security consulting firm SecureState today released a new open source hacking tool that it claims will let security researchers and penetration testers verify the security of electric utility smart meters being installed in millions of homes around the country.

SecureState CEO Ken Stasiak. Image from company website. The tool, called Termineter, is available for public download from SecureState’s website and will be demonstrated at the BSides security event in Las Vegas next week. The company had earlier sent out a stripped down version of the tool to a limited number of individuals.

Security consultancy InGuardians had planned to publicly release details of a similar tool called OptiGuard at the Shmoocon security conference a few months ago. The company however pulled the talk at the last minute in after a unnamed smart grid vendor and several utilities expressed concern that the tool would allow hackers to exploit vulnerable smart meters.

InGuardian is scheduled to disclose details of its tool at the Black Hat security conference also being held in Las Vegas next week.

Spencer McIntyre, a SecureState researcher said the goal in releasing Termineter publicly is to raise awareness of security issues pertaining to smart meters and to get vendors of such products to address those issues.

Power companies and utilities will be able to use Termineter to identify and validate internal flaws that make the meters vulnerable to hacking and tampering, he said.

The tool will give independent security researchers a way to probe such meters for potential access control and user authentication weaknesses, he said. “[Termineter] will give them low level access to smart meters to do security assessment of the device,” regardless of the vendor of the device, McIntyre said.

Termineter supports ANSI C12.18 and ANSI C12.19 standards, and can communicate with smart meters via the infrared ports on each device. The tool will let penetration testers and researchers get direct access to the data on the meter.

Currently, Termineter modules allow testers to read and write raw data on a device in order to get it to respond in specific ways, McIntyre said. Researchers can extend Termineter’s capabilities to build their own applications around it, he said.

Smart meters are a crucial component of the smart grid. The devices are designed to collect energy consumption data from homes and transmit it back to power distribution companies for billing, network and demand management purpose. The technology also lets consumer view their energy usage patterns in near real time to help them better manage home energy use.

Utility companies around the country are in the process of installing millions of smart meters in homes to better manage energy consumption, respond to demand better and eventually offer tiered rating plans based on a consumer’s energy use habits.

The problem is that there are no publicly available tools for testing the security controls of these systems, McIntyre said. Poorly configured and poorly protected smart meters can allow attackers to take control of the system and manipulate the data that they collect and transmit, he said.

“They can read and modify any data, they can reset usage tables, they could change the rate type,” and commit other types of fraud, he said.

Most meters provide low-level access to the device, mid-level administrative access and super-user privileged access to the device, he said. Without the proper tools there is no way that utility companies and others can verify the strength of the access control and authentication mechanisms the device maker might have put in place for controlling access, he said.

McIntyre downplayed concerns about tools such as Termineter giving malicious hackers easy access to something they can use to attack smart meters. The same sort of open source tools that were used to build Terimenter is available to anybody that wants it so there’s no telling if similar tools haven’t already been built by malicious attackers, he said.

The tool as it exists today also requires the attacker to have a fairly good understanding of how smart meters work. To get it to communicate with a smart meter, users need to get physical access to the device he said.

Meanwhile, according to a description of InGuardian’s presentation at Black Hat next week, the company will show how criminals can gather information and authentication credentials from smart meters. The company will also show how a smart meter’s IR port can be used to interact with the device.

The Judge Did Not Explain exceeding light sentence for Jewish Pedophile

Jewish Pedophile Tells Victim “I Love You” In Open Court, Shows No Remorse, Gets Slap On Wrist From Judge for 48 felony counts of child sexual abuse

Justice Martin Murphy issues a baffling sentence that calls his competency as a member of the judiciary into question.

Shmarya Rosenberg

Admitted child rapist Andrew Goodman reportedly declared his love for one of his child victims, a now-17-year-old boy he molested and raped beginning when the boy was 13-years-old.
Just feet from his victim in open court, Goodman called the boy his “best friend in the whole world.”
“Every second of every day, all that I think about is [the boy’s name],” Goodman said. Then, turning to look directly at the boy, Goodman said, “I love you,” reportedly drawing gasps in the courtroom, the New York Post reported.
Despite this complete lack of remorse and Goodman’s clear belief that he did nothing wrong, Justice Martin Murphy held to Goodman’s sweetheart plea deal and sentenced him to only two years in prison – which with time already served could see Goodman released in September.
The boy pleaded with the Murphy to revoke the deal and send Goodman to prison for a long time, calling Goodman “the devil disguised as a human.”
Goodman took a two-year deal from Murphy last month after pleading guilty to 48 felony counts of child sexual abuse. “Even more than Jerry Sandusky,” the victim said, referring to the Penn State assistant football coach who could spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of 45 counts of felony child sexual abuse there.
“I have no doubt he will try to do the same thing to other other children once he gets out,” the victim reportedly said of Goodman.
Goodman’s victim dropped out of school after suffering through “a torturous four years” of sexual abuse. Goodman allegedly sexually abused the boy’s brother, as well.
“The best thing for you and society is if you’re locked in a cage away from society – especially children,” the victim reportedly said.
“Please, use your position to protect our children,” the victim’s mother asked the judge.
But Murphy did not use his power to do that. Instead, he stuck with the two-year deal he offered Goodman – meaning Goodman could be out of prison in time for Sukkot.
“Mr. Goodman, you caused a lot of pain to all the complainants. Your statement that you made today was ill-advised, to say the least,” Murphy said as he sentenced Goodman.
Prosecutors wanted Goodman sentenced to 7 years for each of the 48 felony counts – 336 years in all.
Goodman began grooming the victim when he was ten, giving him Rollerblades, a Playstation and taking him out to eat in restaurants.
“He began telling me he loved me. He slowly built up my trust and then began to alienate me from my family. Eventually, I began to trust him more than my own parents,” the victim said.
“Andrew Goodman, you are the devil disguised as a human,” the victim said. “I trusted you with my life and you betrayed that trust. You are the worst thing that ever happened to me. A person that really loves me wouldn’t take advantage of an innocent young child.”
Justice Martin Murphy did not explain his exceeding light sentence or his refusal to listen to the pleas of the victim and his mother.

Pediatricians or pedophiles? Over 100 children abused by Delaware pediatrician spanning 10 years

by: J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) A few years back the Boston Globe wrote a series of investigative reports detailing how a number of Catholic priests who had sexually abused children – mostly young boys – over the course of their priesthood.

More recently, Jerry Sandusky, a former defensive coordinator for the once-vaunted Penn State college football program, was found guilty of sexually abusing young boys in the shower at the sports facility there, and that the program’s long-time, national championship-winning coach, the beloved Joe Paterno – “JoePa” to most everyone who knew him – was complicit in that he did too little to expose his friend and fellow coach.

How about the Delaware pediatrician who “allegedly sexually abused more than 100 of his patients over the span of a decade”?

If you’re sensing a pattern here that many of our country’s most sacred, once-respected institutions and professions are crumbling around us, you would be correct.

According to reports in 2010, Dr. Earl Bradley, who has since been dubbed “America’s Worst Pedophile,” stood accused of molesting 103 young patients in his office in the tiny town of Lewes, Del., since 1994.

’13 hours of video files’

Detailed in 160 pages of what ABC News described as “disturbing court documents,” Bradley apparently videotaped his sex acts. The documents said Bradley repeatedly molested his child patients as their parents sat nearby and unsuspecting outside the waiting room of his BayBee’s Pediatrics clinic.

“I cannot say certain things that I am feeling, and I am feeling a great deal. I am determined to see that this defendant will never, ever be in a position again to hurt another child,” Delaware’s attorney general, Beau Biden, told reporters.

Bradley was initially held on a $2.3 million bond following his arrest in December 2010. Court papers said he had abused patients just days before he was picked up.

The court documents described Bradley’s alleged actions between 1998 and 2009. Of the children mentioned in the indictment, only one of them was male, reports said. The indictment was on 471 counts, reflecting the depth and scope of this animal’s perversion.

“A search of Bradley’s medical practice late last year (2009) lead to the analysis of more than 13 hours of video files, computers and hard drives and more than 7,000 patient files,” ABC News said.

Biden said following Bradley’s arrest that “this is a very, very troubling case, and we here in the state of Delaware are pursuing it aggressively to the fullest extent of the law.”

“The thing that makes this case so troubling and horrific is the alleged abuse of trust in this matter,” said Biden. “These are highly specialized cases where no one in the community could believe someone could do this to a child, to a child who is voiceless.”

Some of the victims were just months old.

Bradley’s actions finally came to light after a two-year-old girl told her mother following a visit with him that he had hurt her and touched her genitals. Court papers said Bradley first examined the child in her mother’s presence, but later removed her to the office basement where there were toys.

The mother, who was not named in the court documents, told police she allowed her daughter to be alone with Bradley “because of his position as a doctor” and because she “trusted him.”

Texas Republican Party calls for mandatory GMO labeling, legalized raw milk, complete elimination of TSA

(NaturalNews) Delegates from the Texas Republican Party recently gathered in Fort Worth to iron out their party’s official 2012 platform. And in the official platform document, it is spelled out that the Texas Republican Party is in full support of mandatory labeling of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), legalized raw milk, and the complete elimination of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The 22-page report outlining the party’s platform contains a section titled Empowering Families to Direct their Health Care that promotes freedom of choice in food and medicine, including the freedom not to vaccinate. The Texas Republican Party also opposes all efforts to restrict access to vitamins, herbs, and other supplements, and also takes a stance in support of natural, unprocessed foods, including legalized access for all to raw milk.

You can read the full report here:http://www.scribd.com

The same section of the report calls for the passage of real health care reform that will allow all Texans to choose the health care of their choice. The Texas Republican Party specifically endorses a truly “market-based, competitive, and transparent health care system” that is not controlled by Big Pharma and other special interests, but rather serves the health needs of individuals.

Later on in a section titled Promoting Individual Freedom and Personal Safety, the party calls for mandatory labeling of all GMOs “in a uniform and recognizable fashion.” The party also opposes the mandated use of “Smart Meters,” which can be used by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and other government agencies to spy on individuals. (http://www.naturalnews.com/035355_CIA_television_surveillance.html)

Though the Texas Republican Party still endorses the use of war to fight so-called terrorism, the party has called for the elimination of policies that allow for the indefinite detention of American citizens without due process, and in violation of the U.S. Constitution. This platform position presumably implies opposition to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which directly violates both the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. (http://www.naturalnews.com)

Along these same lines, the Texas Republican Party is calling for the complete elimination of the TSA, including the agency’s ridiculous naked body scanners and invasive, full-body pat downs. Airport security should be handled by state and local law enforcement, according to the party, which are far less prone to constitutional abuses.

Though not perfect, the Texas Republican Party’s 2012 platform supports many important positions that aim to protect health freedom and oppose government tyranny. You can read the party’s full platform here:http://www.scribd.com

Radiation – How to protect yourself from its effects safely and naturally

(NaturalNews) Whether concern stems from the possible exposure to drifting radiation from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan or from every day sources of non-ionizing radiation (i.e., cell phones, computers, Wi-Fi, smart meters, etc.), exposure to radiation is a reality.

The constant exposure to electromagnetic fields results in DNA fragmentation which can lead to cancers of the parotid salivary gland, the thyroid gland, and the head. Kids are even more susceptible, with evidence of brain and spinal tumors appearing in children exposed to radiation.

Powerwatch, a non-profit organization prominent in the United Kingdom Electromagnetic Field and Microwave Radiation health debate, shares further consequences resulting from exposure to radiation, including:

• Cognitive dysfunction
• Failed pregnancies
• Certain types of dementia
• Overtiredness
• Compromised immune system function
• Headaches

Protection from radiation and its impending consequences is imperative as well as feasible through safe, natural sources.

Potassium iodide

Potassium iodide, simply composed of the elements potassium and iodine, is the most familiar solution for protection from radiation exposure. Potassium iodide, taken in supplement form, is also used to treat overactive thyroid.

While natural, does it work? Is it safe?

Potassium iodide is effective, yet contraindicated for a multitude of medications, can damage the thyroid, and brings with it other side effects in the form of:

• Red, bumpy, itchy skin
• Painful joints
• Facial and body swelling

After using potassium iodide for a long period of time, a series of other serious health complications may also surface.

(NaturalNews) One of the most shocking realization emerging from the James Holmes Batman movie shooting rampage in Aurora, Colorado is the fact that nobody apparently tried to stop the shooter. This is absolutely baffling. Out of at least 70 moviegoers (and maybe more, as numbers remain sketchy at the moment), it appears that nobody tried to tackle him to the ground, shoot back with their own gun, or even fight back in any way whatsoever. The accounts of witnesses are those of people fleeing, ducking and screaming… but not fighting for their lives.

This story is in no way intended to blame those present at the theater for what was obviously a horrifying, shocking and probably very confusing event, but at the same time we must ask the question: Why did no one fight back?

See my previous story, by the way, which asks other questions about this shooting, such as where did Holmes get the training and the funds to build a complex maze of flammable booby-traps? That story is available at:
http://www.naturalnews.com/036536_James_Holmes_shooting_false_flag.ht…

“There were bullet [casings] just falling on my head. They were burning my forehead,” Jennifer Seeger told reporters in an LA Times article (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2012/07/colorado-shooting-suspe…). “Every few seconds it was just: Boom, boom, boom,” she said. “He would reload and shoot and anyone who would try to leave would just get killed.”

Another bizarre quote appears in the Daily Mail: (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2176450/The-Dark-Knight-Rises…)

A baby was shot at point blank range, the family were gathered around screaming.

Huh?

If the baby was shot at point blank range, that means the shooter was right there beside them. Instead of gathering around and screaming, why didn’t the family tackle the shooter?

This is not any sort of insensitive attempt at satire or blaming anyone, by the way. This is purely an effort to ask a deeply disturbing question that has been bothering me ever since this whole thing went down:

How can a lone gunman fire off at least 100 rounds in a crowded theater full of people and have NOBODY fight back, shoot back or attempt to tackle him?

The guy literally walked in, tossed a couple of smoke bombs, started shooting everybody in sight, and for some reason that remains entire unexplained, they let him do it. When he finished, he walked out the door and calmly surrendered to police, mission accomplished. He was never shot at, stabbed, kicked, punched, tripped or attacked in any way whatsoever, apparently.

It would have taken at least two full minutes to carry out the attack

Importantly, this shooting had to have taken several minutes to carry out. To fire 100+ rounds of ammunition from any weapon requires multiple reloads, each of which takes several seconds to carry out. There would have been long pauses in the shooting. There has even been a report that the AR-15 rifle used by the shooter jammed, which would have created an even longer pause.

These pauses are opportunities to bum rush the guy, or shoot back, or throw something at him, or just punch him right in the jaw with everything you’ve got. Holding a gun does not make you invincible. If anything, it makes you very, very vulnerable to all sorts of attacks. As I learned in my own defensive training, often alongside peace officers:

• Nobody has eyes in the back of their head. Attacks from behind are very, very effective.

• A gun only points in one direction at a time. It cannot shoot backwards, behind the person holding it.

• A gas mask SEVERELY limits angle of perception of vision. Someone wearing a gas mask, as is reported in this incident, is ridiculously vulnerable to attacks from behind, from above, from the sides and from below.

• No man can ignore a deliberate knee to the groin (from the front), or a “kickball” kick to the groin from behind. Such moves are taught in martial arts such as Krav Maga, and they are very, very effective at bringing any man to his knees, either screaming or even vomiting in pain.

• At close range, guns are LESS dangerous than knives. A knife can cut along an entire geometric plane, but a gun can only fire at a single point in space. Guns jam, guns run out of ammo, guns need to be reloaded. A knife, on the other hand, has none of these limitations. Disarming someone with a gun is MUCH easier than disarming someone with a knife.

Something doesn’t add up

It is bewildering that during the several minutes it would have taken for Holmes to fire 100+ rounds into the crowd, nobody fought back.

Again, I’m not blaming the people there, I’m just bewildered that nobody fought back. It doesn’t make sense. Unless, of course, the very fabric of American culture is now so passive and afraid that people have forgotten how to take action in the face of fear.

I think I speak for a great many concealed carry permit holders when I say that if I had been in that theater, I would have been emptying magazines in the direction of the threat (i.e. putting sights on target and repeatedly pulling the trigger). Like many concealed carry weapon holders, I would have turned that scene into what we sometimes jokingly call a “two-way range.”

Like all other concealed carry holders, I am reluctant to ever draw a weapon on anyone, but I’m absolutely willing to do so in order to try to stop a massacre from taking place.

What I can’t understand is how apparently NOBODY in the entire theater had the training or the presence of mind to fight back. This is truly astonishing at every level. In America today, do people just lay down to die when there’s a gunman in the room? I’m not asking this to be insulting in any way, I’m simply bewildered by the lack of action. This is an honest question: WHY did no one act?

Shattering myths: Guys with guns can be physically assaulted, even if you’re unarmed

Here’s a news flash for those who have never trained in these scenarios: Guys wielding guns are very, very easy to disarm during reloads — far easier than trying to disarm someone with a knife, as mentioned earlier. “Weapon takeaways” are routinely taught in Krav Maga, for example, and they are fast and effect, usually breaking the bad guy’s trigger finger in the process.

Taking away a weapon from a gunman is surprisingly easy. Forcing him to the ground takes almost no effort at all. This shooter could have been easily disarmed and pummeled to the ground by a single person, not to mention two or three working together.

Instead, the only reports we get from this incident are those of people screaming and hiding, or sometimes fleeing. To my knowledge, there are no eyewitness accounts of anyone rushing the gunman, shooting back, or trying to even trip him to fall on the floor. And yet empty shell casings were literally falling right onto people within arms’ reach of the guy.

As the Daily Mail reports: (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2176450/The-Dark-Knight-Rises…)

Twenty-five-year-old Jennifer Seeger, of Aurora, says she was in the second row, about four feet from the gunman. She says she ‘was just a deer in headlights’ and ducked to the ground.

Tactically speaking, there is absolutely no way that one person can shoot 70 people unless those 70 people just lay there and let it happen. To shoot 70 people, the guy must have pulled the trigger at least 100 times, probably a lot more, as accuracy in these situations is usually quite poor. Most likely we’re going to find up to 200 rounds expended, once a final forensic count is completed.

News reports say he used as 90-round ammo “drum” for the AR-15. These drums are notoriously bad at feeding ammo, making them useless on the battlefield, which is why soldiers never use them on their personal AR-15s (they use 30-round mags). According to reports, Holmes’ AR-15 drum jammed during the shooting (no surprise) and he had to abandon that weapon and start using something else. All this would have taken time for him to sort out, during which the shooter is completely vulnerable to all sorts of grappling attacks, punches, kicks to the groin, eye gouges, weapon takeaways, etc.

Yet, strangely, nobody rushed the guy. Nobody shot back. Nobody tried to punch him. I honestly don’t understand this.

A culture of passive victims

It occurs to me that maybe I’m different from most Americans today in the fact that I am willing to fight back. For some reason, that seems to be a rarity these days. Too many people have bought into learned helplessness, where they depend on the government to take care of them, keep them safe and solve all their problems.

Once you outsource your personal security to the government — usually by having no defense skills and hoping 911 will respond quickly — you make yourself an easy victim for violent criminals.

The true path to personal safety and security is to learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones. There are many ways to do that, from basic hand-to-hand combat and martial arts skills to learning proficiency in the “American martial art” of hand-gunning. I’ve personally trained with numerous instructors who could have taken Holmes out from 20 – 30 meters away with a single shot to the head, with about 90% accuracy even under pressure. There are lots of proficient firearms owners across America, and a great many of them are carrying those weapons into movie theaters, shopping malls, retail stores and even at the airport. Why was no one carrying a concealed weapon at the Batman movie theater in Aurora? I have no idea.

Again, it’s difficult to second guess what really went down there with all the confusion, the screaming, the smoke and so on. Maybe there were concealed carry weapon holders in the room but they couldn’t get a clear shot. One thing concealed carry holders are always taught is to never shoot at a bad guy if there are innocent civilians behind him. (You’re always trained to know what’s BEHIND your target.) This might have made target acquisition difficult, but given the reality of what was unfolding, it would seem logical to pull the trigger anyway, as allowing the shooter to stand would clearly result in a great number of additional deaths.

Also, there is the distinct possibility that perhaps someone did pull a gun on Holmes, but they got shot by him first. We don’t know the real story on this until more information is released by investigators. So perhaps there was someone who had the courage to fight back and we just haven’t learned about them yet.

What we do know, so far at least, is that no stories of attempted heroism have emerged. Not a single account that I’m aware of, and I’ve been scanning the stories. This is very, very strange. Something doesn’t add up yet again.

Batman movie massacre a reflection of violent video games, TSA violence against citizens and psychiatric drugging of young white men

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Editor of NaturalNews.com (See all articles…)

(NaturalNews) Medical student James Holmes of Aurora, Colorado reportedly opened fire on moviegoers who had filled a theater late last night to watch the newly-released “Batman” movie — an orgy of violence and Big Brother propaganda. Dressed in riot gear and wearing a gas mask that resembled the fictional evil character “Bane” depicted in the movie itself, Holmes burst into the theater and began shooting moviegoers, injuring 50 and killing 12.

ABC News reports that James Holmes was a medical student at the University of Colorado, pursuing a PhD. He attended the University of Colorado Denver Medical Campus. (http://abcnews.go.com/US/mass-shooting-colorado-movie-theater-14-peop…)

What is truly extraordinary about this horrifying scene is that nobody shot back. Given the large number of lawful citizens in Colorado who carry concealed weapons — off-duty police and Sheriffs, armed citizens and former military — it seems likely that at least one person in the theater would have been carrying a concealed weapon which could have been deployed to help stop further bloodshed. Perhaps the confusion of the event prevented this from happening. Many moviegoers reported thinking it was some sort of “promotional special effects” event rather than a real massacre, according to news reports.

The psychiatric drug connection and Columbine 2012

As most NaturalNews readers well know, it is highly likely that James Holmes has been on psychiatric drugs. Not only does he fit the classic definition of a person typically put on psych drugs — young white disturbed male — his actions in the movie theater almost perfectly resemble those of the psyched-out shooters in the 1999 Columbine High School massacre: Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbine_High_School_massacre)

Just like Homes today, the Columbine shooters rampaged through a crowd of people, opening fire randomly, in a “detached” mode of mental insanity that is not normal or healthy.

This is what many people forget to ask when they learn of such massacres: No gun pulls its own trigger. There is a mind behind the act, and when that mind is bathed in mind-altering psychotropic drugs with a known side effects profile of violence and suicidal behavior (http://www.naturalnews.com/027425_drugs_drugs_violence.html), then worsened yet more with violent video games and movies like Batman, a violent outcome is almost a certainty.

Mainstream media routines fails to mention psychiatric drugs

As you might suspect, the mainstream media systematically refuses to investigate the psychiatric drug link to violent criminals. The vast majority of shootings witnessed over the last two decades have involved psychiatric drugs (http://www.naturalnews.com/025826_Antidepressants_school_shootings.ht…), which are known to cause people to feel “detached from reality.”

As Wikipedia reports about the Columbine shooter Eric Harris:

In one of his scheduled meetings with his psychiatrist, Eric Harris complained of depression, anger and to possessing suicidal thoughts. As a result of this, he was prescribed the anti-depressant Zoloft. He subsequently complained to feeling restless and to experiencing a lack of concentration to his doctor, and in April, he was switched to a similar anti-depressant drug — Luvox. At the time of his death, Harris had therapeutic Luvox levels in his system. Some analysts, such as psychiatrist Peter Breggin, have argued that one or both of these medications may have contributed to Harris’s actions. Breggin claimed that side-effects of these drugs include increased aggression, loss of remorse, depersonalization, and mania. A subsequent study conducted by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices identified Luvox as being 8.4 times more likely than other medications to be associated with violence.

Federal government directly promotes culture of violence

In the years since the 1999 shooting, the U.S. government has, itself, rolled out the TSA and subjected American citizens to sexual molestation, strip-searches, public humiliation, verbal assaults and physical harassment by the TSA workers. Those workers — who ridiculously call themselves “officers” — turn out to be pedophiles, drug dealers, child porn distributors and thieves — this is now a matter of public record, of course. (http://www.naturalnews.com/036346_TSA_pedophiles_whistleblower.html)

As a result, the U.S. government has escalated violence against innocent people and helped spread a “culture of violence and abuse” across America.

Ultra-violent movies like Batman only add to the culture of violence, depicting emotionally intense scenes of runaway violence, only to be resolved by a masked vigilante character who colludes with government to “kill bad guys” outside the law, with no due process.

The Pentagon also directly contributes to runaway violence of today’s youth by dosing active-duty soldiers with record levels of mind-altering psychiatric drugs. Today, more than 110,000 soldiers are on mind-altering drugs (http://www.naturalnews.com/036001_soldiers_psychiatric_drugs_veterans…), and that number is rising by the week.

Also today, more U.S. soldiers die from suicide than from combat — a first in the history of the world. Psychiatric drugging of soldiers is at obscene levels (http://www.naturalnews.com/035232_US_troops_psychiatric_drugs_Afghani…), and it is conducted in part because it “detaches” soldiers from the reality of what they’re doing, allowing them to more easily pull the trigger when their rifles are pointed at other human beings.

See the NaturalNews Infographic on the psychiatric drugging of children: http://www.naturalnews.com/Infographic-Epidemic-Psychiatric-Drugging-…

This practice is openly encouraged by the government itself, which wants soldiers to think of war as a type of video game with no real consequences. It is that type of warped, detached reality that was present in both the Columbine shootings as well as today’s Batman movie shooting.

Remember: The U.S. government teaches violence and engages in violence at every level. Virtually everything the government demands of its citizens is done under the threat of violence. Don’t want to have your child subjected to chemotherapy? You’ll be arrested at gunpoint. (http://www.naturalnews.com/026305.html)

Don’t want to vaccinate your children? You’ll be rounded up like cattle and forced to vaccinate at gunpoint. (http://www.naturalnews.com/022267.html)

For the government to say that “We are the peacekeepers and CITIZENS are the ones causing violence” is absurd and factually untrue. Virtually all the real violence carried out against innocent people over the last 100 years has been conducted by governments, including the U.S. government which dropped nuclear weapons on civilian populations in Japan. And that doesn’t even mention the Dresden firebombing massacre in Germany, also carried out by the U.S. government. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dresden_firebombing)

The No. 1 cause of death of innocent people is, throughout the history of the world, democide — death by government. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democide)

James Holmes Batman shooting to justify UN small arms treaty gun grab?

Colorado Batman shooting shows obvious signs of being staged

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Editor of NaturalNews.com (See all articles…)

(NaturalNews) James Holmes, the Aurora, Colorado shooter who reportedly opened fire at a Batman movie premiere, was a medical student at the University of Colorado, pursuing a PhD in neuroscience, reports ABC News. (http://abcnews.go.com/US/mass-shooting-colorado-movie-theater-14-peop…)

As part of the attack, Holmes painted his hair red and referred to himself as “The Joker,” one of the arch enemies in the DC Comics-inspired Batman movie series. (http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/07/20/police-14-dead-in-colorado-the…)

According to news reports, this sudden violent rampage was completely out of character for James Holmes, who was described as “shy.”

The New York Times is now reporting:
Billy Kromka, a pre-med student at the University of Colorado, Boulder, worked with Mr. Holmes for three months last summer as a research assistant in a lab of at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Mr. Kromka said he was surprised to learn Mr. Holmes was the shooting suspect. “It was just shocking, because there was no way I thought he could have the capacity to do commit an atrocity like this,” he said. (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/21/us/colorado-mall-shooting.html?page…)

“He spent much of his time immersed in the computer, often participating in role-playing online games…”

There is already conjecture that James Holmes may have been involved in mind-altering neuroscience research and ended up becoming involved at a depth he never anticipated. His actions clearly show a strange detachment from reality, indicating he was not in his right mind. That can only typically be accomplished through drugs, hypnosis or trauma (and sometimes all three).

His behavior doesn’t add up

His behavior already reveals stark inconsistencies that question the mainstream explanation of events. For example, he opened fire on innocent people but then calmly surrendered to police without resistance. This is not consistent with the idea of “killing everyone.”

Furthermore, he then admitted to police that his apartment was booby-trapped with explosives. If you were really an evil-minded Joker trying to kill people (including cops), why would you warn them about the booby trap in advance? It doesn’t add up.

“Holmes was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, police said, adding he didn’t resist when he was arrested,” reports a local CBS news affiliate (http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/07/20/police-14-dead-in-colorado-the…).

“After his arrest, Holmes told police about ‘possible explosives in his residence,’ Oates said. When police searched his apartment, they discovered it was booby-trapped and evacuated surrounding buildings, police said. Oates said bomb technicians are determining how to disarm flammable or explosive material in the third-floor apartment. He said police could be there some time.”

None of this checks out. If you’re a killer bent on causing mayhem, why tell the police about your surprise bomb waiting for them back at your apartment?

Holmes was clearly provided with exotic gear (and bomb-making skills)

Continuing from CBS:

“He said pictures from inside the apartment are fairly disturbing and the devices look to be sophisticated, adding the booby-traps were ‘something I’ve never seen.’ One rifle, two handguns, a knife, a bullet proof vest, a ballistic helmet, a gas device, a gas mask, military SWAT clothing and unidentified explosives were also found in Holmes’ car, a law enforcement source told CBS News. Oates said Holmes wore a gas mask, a ballistic helmet and vest as well as leg, groin and throat protectors during the shooting.”

In other words, this guy was equipped with exotic gear by someone with connections to military equipment. SWAT clothing, explosives, complex booby-traps… c’mon, this isn’t a “lone gunman.” This is somebody who was selected for a mission, given equipment to carry it out, then somehow brainwashed into getting it done.

“Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said Holmes’ apartment is booby-trapped with a ‘sophisticated’ maze of flammable devices. It could take hours or days for authorities to disarm it,” reports Yahoo News (http://sg.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/suspect-neuroscience-phd-stu…).

UPDATE: (This section added to the story Saturday at 2:30 pm central, July 21, 2012). It is now being reported that exotic, advanced booby-traps have been disarmed at the apartment of James Holmes. The Denver affiliate of CBS News is now reporting: (http://denver.cbslocal.com/2012/07/21/officials-expect-explosions-as-…)

Officials say they have removed all major threats at the booby-trapped apartment of the Aurora movie theater shooting suspect on Saturday. They have used a robot to go inside James Holmes’ apartment. …They were able to disable a trip wire that was set to go off when the apartment door was opened. “This is some serious stuff that our team is dealing with…”

Shortly before noon crews were successful performing a controlled detonation… More controlled detonations were possible.

…there were multiple trip wires throughout the apartment. Investigators have also seen what appear to be mortars planted in the apartment — sort of the kind of mortars that might be seen in a commercial fireworks show. Up to a half dozen of them are scattered around.

…they have seen a number of inflated balloons in the apartment… with many appearing to be filled with a powder. Also linked together are bottles of liquid. …a strong smell of gasoline emanating from the apartment.

…several boxes on top of the refrigerator and there are lights flashing on the boxes.

…30 aerial shells (fireworks) commercially legally available for purchase. …the suspect may have filled them with smokeless powder. …entering the apartment would have caused a trip wire to trigger one liquid container to pour/mix with another. When the two mix together, they set off the main charge of the device which may be additional flammable liquids.

…an enormously dangerous mission. About 100 personnel are on scene.

And the BBC is now reporting: (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-18937726)

Technicians made a first attempt on Friday to disarm the traps, believed to include explosives, but withdrew when it became clear the property was too dangerous to enter. Sgt Carlson said the device was set up to detonate when the first person entered the flat. “We’ve defeated first threat. It was set up to kill, and that could have been police officers or anything,” she said.

“In addition to the shells found in the apartment, jars of a kind of accelerant were also found inside the dwelling, said Aurora Police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson.” (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000087239639044446430457754103267932…) “Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates expressed frustration on Friday with the web of wires and devices Mr. Holmes had connected inside his apartment, which were hindering the investigation into the shooting. …It was unlike anything he had seen before.”

FBI has a track record of staging similar assaults, then stopping them at the last minute

This is not your run-of-the-mill crime of passion. It was a carefully planned, heavily funded and technically advanced attack. Who might be behind all this? The FBI, of course, which has a long history of setting up and staging similar attacks, then stopping them right before they happen. See four documented stories on these facts:

http://www.naturalnews.com/035849_domestic_terror_plots_FBI.html
http://www.naturalnews.com/034325_FBI_entrapment_terror_plots.html
http://www.naturalnews.com/033751_FBI_terrorism.html
http://www.naturalnews.com/035757_FBI_terror_plots_false_flag.html

As you soak all this in, remember that the FBI had admitted to setting up terror plots, providing the weapons and gear, staging the location of the bombings and even driving the vehicles to pull it off! This is not a conspiracy theory, it’s been admitted by the FBI right out in the open. Even the New York Times openly reports all this in stories like this one:

NYT: Terrorist Plots, Hatched by the F.B.I. (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/29/opinion/sunday/terrorist-plots-help…)

THE United States has been narrowly saved from lethal terrorist plots in recent years — or so it has seemed. A would-be suicide bomber was intercepted on his way to the Capitol; a scheme to bomb synagogues and shoot Stinger missiles at military aircraft was developed by men in Newburgh, N.Y.; and a fanciful idea to fly explosive-laden model planes into the Pentagon and the Capitol was hatched in Massachusetts. But all these dramas were facilitated by the F.B.I., whose undercover agents and informers posed as terrorists offering a dummy missile, fake C-4 explosives, a disarmed suicide vest and rudimentary training. …the F.B.I. provided a van loaded with six 55-gallon drums of “inert material,” harmless blasting caps, a detonator cord and a gallon of diesel fuel to make the van smell flammable. An undercover F.B.I. agent even did the driving…

Mystery man Holmes has no background

On top of all this, Holmes apparently has no background. “He’s not on anybody’s radar screen — nothing,” said a peace officer in a NYT article. “This guy is somewhat of an enigma. Nobody knows anything about him.” (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/21/us/colorado-mall-shooting.html)

Mr. Holmes’s only criminal history is a traffic summons, the authorities said. He earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in neuroscience in 2010 from the University of California, Riverside, and was a graduate student in neurosciences at the University of Colorado at Denver’s Anschutz Medical Campus… He was currently collecting unemployment…

Question: How does an unemployed medical student afford $20,000 in weapons gear?

If you start to look at the really big picture here, the obvious question arises: How does an unemployed medical student afford all the complex weapons gear, bomb-making gear, “flammable” booby trap devices, ammunition, multiple magazines, bullet-proof vest, groin protection, ballistic helmet, SWAT uniform and all the rest of it?

A decent AR-15 rifle costs $1,000 or more all by itself. The shotgun and handgun might run another $800 total. Spare mags, sights, slings, and so on will run you at least another $1,000 across three firearms. The bullet-proof vest is easily another $800, and the cost of the bomb-making gear is anybody’s guess. With all the specialty body gear, ammunition, booby-trap devices and more, I’m guessing this is at least $20,000 in weapons and tactical gear, much of which is very difficult for civilians to get in the first place.

The mere manufacture of an explosive booby-trap device is, all by itself, a felony crime by the way. And remember: “Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said Holmes’ apartment is booby-trapped with a ‘sophisticated’ maze of flammable devices. It could take hours or days for authorities to disarm it,” reported Yahoo News (http://sg.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/suspect-neuroscience-phd-stu…).

Question: Where does an unemployed, introverted medical school student get the training to deploy sophisticated booby traps, tactical body armor, weapons systems and more? Certainly not in graduate school!

All this leads to an obvious third party influence over all this. Someone else taught this guy these skills and funded the acquisition of the equipment.

Update: An article posted on Sunday by the Daily Mail reveals Holmes had a “‘mind-boggling’ stash of ammunition” and “three types of explosives were found – jars filled with accelerates, chemicals that would explode when mixed together and more than 30 improvised grenades.” This further adds to the financial cost tally of what it took to put all this together. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2177156/James-Holmes-Dark-Kni…)

The Wall Street Journal is also now reporting: “the suspect bought four guns over the past 60 days, and over the Internet bought 3,000 rounds for an assault rifle, 3,000 rounds for Glock handguns and about 300 shotgun rounds. The suspect also had a 100-round drum-style magazine for the assault rifle that would have allowed him to fire 50 to 60 rounds a minute.” (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000087239639044446430457754103267932…)

Note: Some readers have questioned the $20,000 figure estimated here, saying this gear could have been acquired for only $10,000 or so. I doubt that, as all the extras that you need to effectively run these guns cost a lot of money: training courses, spare magazines, etc. Just a decent AR-15 battle sight (a holographic red dot sight) can run $1,000 – $2,000. Search “ACOG” if you don’t believe me. It is also reported that Holmes bought 6,000 rounds of ammo, which definitely isn’t cheap either, especially given that we now know half of those rounds were rifle rounds. It’s clear this guy was spending big bucks. Whether it’s $10k or $20k isn’t really that much of a point.

Staged just in time for a vote on the UN small arms treaty?

More and more, this shooting is looking like a deliberate plot staged by the government itself much like Operation Fast and Furious pulled off by the ATF (http://www.naturalnews.com/032934_ATF_illegal_firearms.html) which helped smuggle tens of thousands of guns into Mexico for the purpose of causing “gun violence” in the USA, then blaming the Second Amendment for it.

All this looks like James Holmes completed a “mission” and then calmly ended that mission by surrendering to police and admitting everything. The mission, as we are now learning, was to cause as much terror and mayhem as possible, then to have that multiplied by the national media at exactly the right time leading up the UN vote next week on a global small arms treaty that could result in gun confiscation across America. (http://lewrockwell.com/eddlem/eddlem61.1.html)

Even Forbes.com wrote about this quite extensively, warning readers about the coming gun confiscation effort related to the UN treaty. The story was authored by Larry Bell (http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrybell/2011/06/07/u-n-agreement-should…) and says the UN treaty could “override our national sovereignty, and in the process, provide license for the federal government to assert preemptive powers over state regulatory powers guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment in addition to our Second Amendment rights.”

In other words, this has all the signs of Fast & Furious, Episode II. I wouldn’t be surprised to discover someone in Washington was behind it all. After all, there’s no quicker way to disarm a nation and take total control over the population than to stage violence, blame it on firearms, then call for leaders to “do something!” Such calls inevitably end up resulting in gun confiscation, and it’s never too long after that before government genocidereally kicks in like we saw with Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao and other tyrants.

Artifical jellyfish created in lab from rat cells

The tentacled artificial creature, made from silicon, has been dubbed “Medusoid” because of its resemblance to the snake-haired character from Greek mythology whose gaze turned people to stone.

It is able to mimic the swimming movement of a jellyfish thanks to muscle cells from rat hearts which were implanted onto its silicon frame and grown into a pattern similar to the muscles of a real jellyfish.

By applying an electric current to a container of conducting liquid, the scientists demonstrated they could “shock” the muscles into contracting so that it began to move through the water.

The “reverse-engineering” project by researchers from the California Institute of Technology and Harvard University was published on the website of the Nature Biotechnology journal.

Janna Nawroth, lead author of the study, said that most researchers working in tissue engineering have attempted to copy tissue or organs by simply recreating its major components, regardless of what their function is and whether they could be replaced by something simpler.

She said: “A big goal of our study was to advance tissue engineering. Our idea was that we would make jellyfish functions — swimming and creating feeding currents — as our target and then build a structure based on that information.”

Her colleague Prof John Dabiri added: “I’m pleasantly surprised at how close we are getting to matching the natural biological performance, but also that we’re seeing ways in which we can probably improve on that natural performance. The process of evolution missed a lot of good solutions.”

Jellyfish use a pumping muscle to propel themselves through the water, meaning their movement is based on a mechanism similar to a human heart.

This makes them a useful model for tissue engineering, technology which could one day be used to create synthetic hearts or other organs for human patients.

Prof Kevin Kit Parker, one of the study’s authors, said: “I saw a jellyfish at the New England Aquarium, and I immediately noted both similarities and differences between how the jellyfish pumps and the human heart. The similarities help reveal what you need to do to design a bio-inspired pump.

“The jellyfish provides a design algorithm for reverse engineering an organ’s function.”

Prof Dabiri added: “A lot of work these days is done to engineer molecules, but there is much less effort to engineer organisms.

“I think this is a good glimpse into the future of re-engineering entire organisms for the purposes of advancing biomedical technology.”
