Putin to Peres: Israel will regret attacking Iran

Mehr News.com

TEHRAN, June 27 (MNA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Israel will regret it if it launches a military strike on Iran.
Putin made the remarks during a meeting with Israeli President Shimon Peres in Beit-ul-Moqaddas (Jerusalem) on Monday.

During the meeting, Putin urged Israel to learn from negative U.S. experience in Afghanistan and Iraq, Ynetnews reported.

“Look at what happened to the Americans in Afghanistan and in Iraq. I told (U.S. President Barack) Obama the same thing,” Putin stated.

He added, “There is no need to do things too quickly; one should not act without thinking first.”

“Iraq has a pro-Iranian regime after everything that has happened there. These things should be thought out ahead of time before doing something one will regret later,” the Russian president stated.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier on Monday following his meeting with Putin, “I believe that we should be doing two things now: Boosting the sanctions (on Iran) and also boosting the demands.”

The Russian president said that the two leaders “spoke in detail about the Syria issue and about the Iranian nuclear program.”

In a brief statement after meeting with Netanyahu, Putin said that their talks covered the situation in Iran and the uprising in Syria, but added that he saw negotiations as the only solution for such matters, ABC News reported.

According to AP, Israel urged the Russian president to step up pressure on Iran to curb its nuclear program, but there was no sign of any concessions from Putin.

The Christian Broadcasting Network wrote on Tuesday, “Russia will not step up pressure on Iran to curb its nuclear program despite Israel’s urgings.”

Argentina signs deals with China’s military

The Associated Press

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—Argentina’s defense minister is visiting China, signing military agreements and praising the weapons on display during a six-day tour.

Defense minister Arturo Puricelli says cooperation agreements that he signed with Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie will strengthen ties between the Asian giant and Argentina.

He calls China an economic, political and military partner and says the two countries’ strategic positions in terms of international security are almost entirely consistent.

Argentina’s defense ministry says in a Wednesday statement that Puricelli also has visited Chinese defense contractors, viewing helicopters at one and guided weapon systems and anti-aircraft artillery at another.

Chinese state-run media in Beijing have reported on the visit and say China wants to expand military cooperation with Argentina.

Iran should stop US war machine legally: Int. lawyer

Prominent international lawyer and law professor at the University of Illinois, Francis Boyle is of the opinion that Iran should sue the US at the International Court of Justice for Washington’s refusal to engage in direct negotiation with Tehran and its threats of military strike against the Islamic Republic.

“I’ve been a lawyer since January 10, 1977. And if someone is ignoring to talk to you sue them, and then they have to talk to you,” says Boyle, professor of international law at the university.

“But if the US government is not going to do that (accept to negotiate), then it seems to me Iran should sue them at the World Court, and protect itself and then by means of the World Court proceedings, force negotiations which Iran can do…,” he noted.

Boyle said “…if the crisis escalates certainly it would be my advice that Iran follow this lawsuit against these three states (US, UK, and France), ask for the emergency hearing of the court, win these three orders, and try to use those orders to prevent a war.”

“The restraining order would be to prevent a military attack on Iran, to prevent any type of blockade of Iran…to prevent the imposition of further economic sanctions by these three states against Iran, and also their pursuit of more sanctions against Iran at the United Nations Security Council.”

He referred to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s failure to detect any sort of diversion in Iran’s nuclear energy program towards military purposes.

“So if the US government is not prepared to engage in reasonable, direct, unconditional, good faith negotiations with Iran, then my advice is that the Iranian government go forward with this lawsuit.”

The United States, Israel, and some of their allies, accuse Iran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program. Washington and Tel Aviv have time and again threatened Tehran with the “option” of a military strike against its civilian nuclear facilities.

Iran argues that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the IAEA, it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Ahmed Jibril: Palestinians, Iran, Hezbollah to Defend Syria if Attacked

Fars News Agency

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Palestinian leader underlined preparedness of Palestinian groups, Lebanon’s Hezbollah Movement and Iran to help Syria in case the Muslim country is attacked by the western states.

“The Syrian government is powerful internally but if foreign elements want to invade (Syria), we will be part of this battle and we have discussed it with our brothers in Syria, with (Hezbollah chief) Seyed Hassan Nasrallah and our brothers in Iran,” Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PLFP) Ahmed Jibril told the Beirut-based Mayadeen television on Tuesday.

Jibril said that if a “Turkish-European alliance or NATO escalate… we will take to the streets and fight beside all those honorable people and our Syrian brothers.”

Jibril also cited Nasrallah as saying Hezbollah would fight beside Syria, and described the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah alliance as one axis that the PFLP is part of.

He added that he met recently with Nasrallah, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, without specifying the times of the meetings.

He also noted that the Hezbollah chief “said he would join this battle, in the event of a foreign attack” on Syria.

Jebril reiterated that the Iranian government has also told him it would not allow a strike on Syria. “We have warned the Turks several times not to play with fire,” Jibril said.

He also said that the 16-month unrest against Assad was not a genuine local movement, but rather “a change in the foundations of this region in order to create a new Middle East”, referring to the 2006 remarks by former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Jibril described the defense of Syria against foreign attacks as “a decisive battle.” Victory would be necessary, he said, in order to “defeat the American and Zionist projects”.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of increasing unrests in Syria.

Blue Turns Sweet 16

Blue, a Sheltie/Blue Heeler mix, lived well past the 30 days she was given after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. Blue’s owners attribute her longevity and quality of life to holistic veterinary care.

Uploaded by on Apr 26, 2010

Our Blue Heeler/Sheltie mix, Blue, previously appeared in the youtube video Blue The Canine Rocky. This is a sequel to that video.

Blue turned 16 in July, 2009–roughly 2 1/2 years after receiving a terminal diagnosis (and an estimated 30 days to live). Despite various ailments brought on by old age (arthritis, sluggish liver function, knee ligament damage) Blue continues to thrive thanks to various herbal supplements and a holistic care approach. She is happy, active, and still the alpha dog in a 3-dog household.
If you are a pet owner, please investigate alternative, herbal, holistic, and non-surgical options to traditional veterinary medicine. Blue is proof that many of these supplements have merit.

This video is dedicated to Blue and senior dogs everywhere.

  • Allergies are a good example of a chronic, widespread disease that causes enormous suffering for both people and pets – yet scientific research into allergic conditions is focused on symptom management, not curing the disease.
  • Much of the funding for health-related research in the U.S. originates from a desire to develop therapies that can be patented and sold over long periods of time for a profit. Finding cures is not a priority.
  • Even the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) has as its goal to, “Advance the science and practice of symptom management.”
  • Pet owners, however, aren’t content to simply manage symptoms. They are looking for cures for the diseases their animals suffer from. Thanks to websites like this one and social media, users are able to talk and share information more easily. People are seeking holistic and integrative therapies in larger numbers for allergies and other disorders.
  • If you’d like to lend your support to wellness-focused veterinary medicine research, we hope you’ll join the AHVMA Foundation’s “One in a Million” fund raising effort. Between now and July 2, 2012, every $1 donated to the AHVMA Foundation toward the “One in a Million” campaign will be automatically doubled. That’s right – MercolaHealthyPets.com will contribute $2 for every $1 donation to the foundation from June 25th through July 2nd.

By Dr. Richard Palmquist, Co-Director of the AHVMA Foundation

Pets and people suffer endlessly from allergies and the complications that arise from them. Consumers spend millions of dollars each year addressing the problem with antihistamines, nutritional supplements, vitamins, and pharmaceutical drugs like cortisone and cyclosporine.

Pet owners are increasingly aware that commonly prescribed medications can and do help manage symptoms, but at a price. Drugs can cause adverse effects including immune suppression, hormonal imbalances, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, cellular energy production damage, increased urination, excessive panting and a host of other undesirable reactions.

Recent improvements in our understanding of allergic conditions have given veterinarians new tools to treat patients, but the majority of owners aren’t content to simply manage their pet’s allergies. They want to solve the problem, not just suppress the symptoms of the problem.

A recent survey of pet owners who visited veterinary dermatologists revealed that dietary therapies can assist about one third of allergy suffers. By contrast, allergy shots given to improve tolerance of allergens helped resolve less than 4 percent of cases responding to the survey.

Most Medical Research Isn’t Looking for Cures

With the massive amount of money spent each year treating allergy-related disease, you would expect equally large amounts of research dollars are being spent to find real solutions to the problem. And when a small study shows that properly prescribed homeopathic agents can improve or even resolve allergies in dogs, wouldn’t you expect that to excite and stimulate further studies?

Sadly, this is not the case.

And pet owners are often surprised to learn this. They may think scientists are working hard to find real cures – especially comparatively safe, non-toxic remedies — but science is dependent upon funding. And much of the funding for health-related research in the U.S. originates from a desire to develop therapies that can be patented and sold over long periods of time for a profit. Most research funding is directly related to potential future profitability.

But what about taxpayer funded research? The National Institutes of Health (NIH) gives grants for research into a wide variety of health concerns. Drug companies often use this scientific research to mine for potential new therapies. When one appears, they capitalize on taxpayer funded research to generate new drugs or approaches that can be patented and sold for profit.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) only funds research with human health in mind. This means veterinary medicine has little public funding available to advance complementary and alternative veterinary medicine (CAVM). It may be possible to arrange grants for specific uses like pain management, but that funding is becoming scarce due to federal budget constraints.

NCCAM’s primary goal is to, “Advance the science and practice of symptom management.” That may not be the best goal for researchers to pursue. Don’t we want to advance science and practice to obtain real healing? Why focus on symptom management to the exclusion of resolving the condition?

Most pet owners would prefer to eliminate their animal’s allergies than treat them for life. It only makes sense. But as things stand now, DVM’s realize far more allergy cases will be managed, but not fixed. Promising a cure is considered unethical because traditional medicine’s focus has always been on symptom management, not disease resolution.

But we know that cures do occur in both people and pets. Those of us in integrative veterinary practice have had experience curing diseases in animals. And we feel veterinary medicine research should be centered on finding ways to resolve illness – not just manage symptoms.

Pet Owners Are Looking for Real Solutions

Websites like Mercola Healthy Pets are helping pet owners expand their awareness of integrative approaches to healing companion animals.

Visitors to these sites are talking with one another, and thanks to social media, they are sharing information. Consumers are seeking holistic and integrative therapies in larger numbers for allergies and other disorders. They are finding help not only in managing symptoms safely and more effectively, they are also experiencing cures for themselves and their pets.

But since veterinary school curriculums and most conventional veterinary journals lack information in CAVM and integrative techniques, traditional veterinarians may not be aware of alternative therapies for allergies. This knowledge gap can limit treatment options and negatively affect patient care.

How can we change this? How can we improve the evidence and knowledge available to consumers and their veterinary medical professionals? How can we address difficult problems and improve outcomes?

The answer is fairly simple.

How You Can Help Make Wellness-Focused Research a Reality

The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association Foundation is a private, nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to supporting improved research into integrative and holistic therapies in veterinary medicine.

At the foundation we are working to raise $10 million dollars to fund studies that could radically alter how we address diseases like allergies and other chronic conditions. We are also working to generate another $10 million dollars for use in enhancing existing veterinary school programs with integrative veterinary medical departments. Once these departments are established, we can get on with doing legitimate research, but only if funding is made available.

While we will accept contributions of any size and welcome large donations, our current fund raising effort is called “One In A Million.” We are seeking one million angels who will donate $1 a month for 12 months to generate a $12 million dollar fund.

These funds will be free of corporate influence and designated to be used for projects that benefit the health and well-being of animals without regard to developing products that could be patented and sold for profit.

The foundation’s goal is to fund research for the people, by the people. It is our fervent desire to bring better integrative healing techniques to the veterinary profession to enhance the lives of both pets and their human families.

The AHVMA Foundation is grateful to the Mercola group for supporting our efforts. We want to thank Dr. Mercola and Dr. Becker for helping us spread the word.

fruits

(NaturalNews) What could possibly be the harm in picking up a seedless watermelon and some seedless lemons at the grocery store and having some refreshing, ice cold watermelon and a little homemade lemonade? After all, they are really shiny, a little larger than usual, and the price is just right!

Corn obviously is not a fruit, but there is a special kind of corn grown that you may not really know much about. This corn is engineered in a laboratory to contain pesticide which kills worms that enjoy corn and “gobble it up” in the corn fields of America. If you consumed this same pesticide, even just a couple of droplets a day in your orange juice maybe for breakfast, you would die of cancer or from some other horrible disease quite quickly. Consuming this form of genetic modification of food is nothing but a slow poisoning of your body, and you may as well throw those watermelons and lemons into some toxic waste disposal barrel, and stay as far away from them as you can. Rinsing off your food does not rinse out the GMO

It used to be that you go buy your fresh fruits and vegetables, take them home, and rinse them off, just in case there was some dirt or pesticide on the outside that you didn’t really want to eat. Now, between 80% and 90% of all fruits and vegetables sold in the United States contain pesticide inside the plant, not just on the outside, and putting them in your kitchen sink for a quick rinse isn’t doing anything to get rid of this cancer causing, 4,000 plus chemical concoctionwhich is about to become part of your genetics.

(NaturalNews) The largest and most comprehensive natural history museum in the Southeast, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) is one of the premier educational destinations for both young and old alike to learn about the natural world in a fun, interactive environment. But this beacon of cultural enlightenment has apparently been infiltrated by Monsanto and numerous other corporate interests, all of which were allowed to give presentations at the museum’s recent “Biotechnology Day.”

According to the NCMNS website, the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) partnered with Kelly Services, a local staffing agency, to hold the first ever Biotechnology Day at the museum, which was tag-lined with the somewhat menacing phrase “Biotechnology in Your Daily Life!” The stated goal of the event was to “demystify biotechnology” and enlighten the public as to how it affects their everyday lives.

“Organizations (companies, educational institutions, non-profits) from around the state will be participating with hands-on demonstrations, experiments and crafts,” says the event’s description. Included among these presenters were representatives from both the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, which were essentially given an open pulpit from which to indoctrinate the minds of young children into the dogma of drugs and GMOs (genetically-modified organisms).

Monsanto, BASF, and Pfizer all gave presentations at Biotechnology Day

The very first presentation given during Biotechnology Day was titled “A Drug Comes to Market,” and was given by a senior learning technologist from clinical trial giant PPD. Other presentations included “Better Crops for a Better Future,” which was given by a representative of biotechnology giant BASF, as well as another given by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Campbell University titled “Are You Taking Biotech Medicines?”

There was also a workshop on vaccines given by the CEO of a vaccine company known as Arbovax Inc, as well as a number of exhibits promoting GMOs and the use of emerging biotechnologies for creating “a better life.” Monsanto, the king of the biotechnology castle, even had a deceptive exhibit titled “Applications of Biotechnology to Enhance Crop Productivity.”

A mid-day session included a presentation from a Pfizer engineer who explained to children a little bit more about how proteins are extracted and “purified” for use in biotechnological applications. And the North Carolina State University(NCSU) Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) held a hands-on exhibit where children were taught how to manufacture biotechnology materials using grape soda

Desperate brides try feeding tube diet

Under doctor’s supervision, some take extreme measures to drop weight before the wedding

The K-E diet, which involves using a feeding tube instead of eating, is gaining popularity, especially for women looking to lose weight for their wedding day. Dr. Louis Aronne and TODAY contributor Dr. Roshini Raj discuss the dangers of this extreme diet.

 Watch Video Here

Transcript:

GUTHRIE: In your line of work I suppose you’ve seen it all. Where does this feeding tube diet rank in terms of unusual fad diets?

Dr. ARONNE: This is nowhere. This has a very high yuck factor. It is much too severe for people to consider, in my — in my opinion. Really, this is not something that should be done.

GUTHRIE: Dr. Raj, you agree? Is this something that’s just off limits?

Dr. RAJ: I totally agree. I mean, we use feeding tubes in the hospital for very ill patients…

Dr. ARONNE: Mm-hmm.

Dr. RAJ: …for post-surgical patients. But even then we think twice about it. There are risks to having a feeding in your nose, in your stomach. It can cause erosions, it can cause bleeding. And the fact that people would do this knowing that it’s so temporary, it’s so extreme, there’s going to be no long-term benefit, you have to think about the psychological factors going into this decision.

GUTHRIE: I do want to talk about that in a moment. But what — I mean, in your mind, Doctor, what is the worst-case scenario of something that could go wrong with this?

Dr. ARONNE: You could have side effects. And they’re minimized in the doctor’s mind, but people can get dehydrated, have severe constipation. And what is lost is mainly water and muscle. So when you first start losing weight you don’t lose fat, you’re actually losing water and muscle.

GUTHRIE: Let me be a devil’s advocate here for a moment because some doctors do perform this procedure, as we just saw. They monitor the patient closely for 10 days. They are getting calories, 800, enough to subsist. It appears to provide some results. So what’s the harm if it’s just for this 10 days?

Dr. RAJ: Well, first of all, they’re saying they’re monitoring the patient. The patient is not in a hospital being monitored, so I — you know, I was reading their website. They check in maybe every three days. Eight hundred calories is very low. To say that that’s sort of enough to subsist, well, you are going to start to break down parts of your body that you need. And you don’t — when you get 800 calories through food, you absorb it much better than when it’s through a liquid form going into your stomach. So there are a lot of potential side effects. What this doctor just mentioned, in addition, kidney stones, gout. All these can — things can happen with this kind of diet.

GUTHRIE: And Dr. Raj kind of touched on this, Dr. Aronne. I mean, do you think it says something about the mindset of somebody who’s willing to go to these lengths of walking around for 10 days with a feeding tube up her nose?

Dr. ARONNE: Well, if someone wants to lose weight before their wedding, they just need to start a little bit earlier. You’re not really going to get anything useful doing this for 10 days.

GUTHRIE: All right, Dr. Aronne and Dr. Raj. Thank you so much. It’s interesting information. Appreciate it.
